ASHEVILLE, N.C. — Aeroflow Health’s recognition as the 2025 HME Provider of the Year is a testament to the way it blends national reach with local heart – an approach that results in operational excellence and compassionate care, says Ryan Bullock.
“It’s meaningful validation of our team’s daily efforts,” said Bullock, chief strategy officer. “But more importantly, it’s a motivator to keep raising the bar.”
In a recent conversation with HME News, Bullock and COO Lauren Bennett reflected on what the honor means for Aeroflow’s employees, its business model and its role in shaping the future of home medical equipment.
HME News: How does winning the award speak to the company’s business model/formula for success?
Ryan Bullock: Earning this recognition reinforces that our approach to health care works. We’ve built a business model rooted in accessibility, outcomes and collaboration with patients, providers and payers. We view innovation as a mindset across the company. This combination of purpose and adaptability allows us to grow responsibly, while keeping patients at the center of all we do.
HME: Aeroflow has several distinct product lines. How is the company able to balance those and do them all equally well?
Lauren Bennett: Each Aeroflow product line (Mom & Baby, Urology, Sleep and Diabetes) is supported by dedicated experts who understand their patients and payers. Shared systems create consistency in logistics, compliance and technology, while specialized teams maintain focus and innovation. That balance allows us to deliver high-quality care across every service line.
HME: Aeroflow has a national reach. How do you manage that national profile while still retaining the values of a smaller, local provider?
Bennett: Our national scale helps us serve more patients, identify best practices and invest in the technology needed to deliver care efficiently. That said, we are determined to remain grounded in our local roots in Asheville, N.C. Our people live in the communities we serve, and we offer paid time off for volunteer hours, regardless of location, inclusive of our remote employees.
Bullock: Our culture is absolutely what makes Aeroflow special. We operate nationally, but we act locally. Our employees know their communities and advocate for the end users and their loved ones who are using the products we provide. That’s how we’ve maintained trust while expanding access to care on a national level.
HME: How important of a role do Aeroflow’s employees play in its success?
Bullock: Our employees are our most powerful differentiator. In a competitive health care environment, while technology and scale do matter, empathy, expertise and human connection matter more. We honor our people by investing in their growth and recognizing their impact. When employees feel valued and supported, that shows up in every interaction, and they go the extra mile.
HME: Aeroflow is involved in industry organizations and works to support industry issues, like coverage for breast pumps. Why is that so important as a company?
Bullock: Progress happens when the people closest to the work have a seat at the table and understand the needs of the individuals and families they are serving. We’ve seen firsthand how policy decisions directly affect patient access and outcomes. Supporting initiatives like breast pump coverage or durable medical equipment modernization isn’t just good for our company, it’s essential for the people we serve.
