Alpine reaches new heights

SALT LAKE CITY - When Melissa Phillips tells you that, in Alpine Home Medical Equipment's old location, "We were sitting on top of each other," she's not kidding. The Salt Lake City-based provider gave its employees and customers room to stretch out this spring, when it traded in its 5,000-square-foot location for an 18,000-square-foot location that, in a previous life, was a used car dealership. "We cleared out everything and built it up," said Phillips, Alpine's marketing and promotions manager. "As you can imagine, we needed something bigger to fully cover our growth." Alpine made the move in February and officially opened its doors during a groundbreaking in March. The new location features a 3,000-square-foot showroom and a 6,000-square-foot warehouse. Its second floor houses offices for customer service and accounts receivable. Highlights of the new location include private rooms for fittings and consultations, and installation bays for vehicle lifts. While Phillips describes Alpine's product mix as "well rounded," the provider sees the majority of its business in oxygen and rehab. It has departments and managers dedicated to those product categories, Phillips said. The nine-year-old Alpine serves Utah and surrounding states like Idaho and Wyoming from locations in Salt Lake City and Provo, Utah. It also has offices in Ogden and Saint George, both in Utah. The St. George office opened in October 2005.
