CMS expands list of telehealth services

WASHINGTON - CMS has added 11 new services to the list of telehealth services that it will pay for during the public health emergency.

These new services include certain cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation services. Since the beginning of the PHE, CMS has added more than 135 telehealth services to the list.

The agency is also providing support to state Medicaid and Children's Health Insurance Programs to expand telehealth services. A preliminary snapshot of Medicaid and CHIP data shows that more than 34.5 million telehealth services were delivered between March and June.

“Responding to President Trump's executive order, CMS is taking action to increase telehealth adoption across the country,” said CMS Administrator Seema Verma. “This revolutionary method of improving access to care is transforming health care delivery in America.”
