Medical Specialties Distributors expands

STOUGHTON, Mass. - Medical Specialties Distributors (MSD), an alternate-site infusion therapy provider, has acquired Medical Technologies Resources (MTR), a Columbus, Ohio-based provider of infusion pumps and a healthcare billing service, according to a press release. In addition to its infusion therapy products, MSD offers distribution services and technology solutions to the home infusion and oncology markets. Since partnering in 2010 with Water Street Healthcare Partners, a private equity firm, the company has grown both organically and through acquisitions. Higher demand for intravenous (IV) therapy in the home also accounts for the company's growth, the release noted. MTR, long an acquisition target for MSD, will broaden the company's distribution territory in the Midwest. “Our customers in long-term care and home infusion pharmacies will have access to more products and services, a larger distribution network, and increased biomedical service centers to more efficiently meet their needs,” stated Andy Amicon, CEO of MTR.
