IRVING, Texas – National HME’s new partnership with Elara Caring offers the national home care provider a single-source option for durable medical equipment (DME) and services for its hospice patients in 18 states.
National HME will bring to bear 70 brick-and-mortar locations across the country and a proprietary operations platform to help Elara Caring serve its hospice patients.
“Elara Caring is a prestigious and established provider to home care and hospice patients,” said Jeffrey Waldman, chairman and CEO of National HME. “It’s a great overlap of priorities focusing on customer care and geographic locations for both companies.”
Operational consistency is key
National HME differentiates itself through its ability to deliver scalable, standardized care across markets—a capability Waldman identifies as critical in today’s fragmented DME landscape.
“Our staff is trained through our national training program,” he said. “Everything from utilization of equipment to the method of delivering the equipment to empathy training. Our team members are consistent in Denver, Colo., as well as in Nashville, Tenn. That allows us to be a more viable alternative to what hospices are seeing today, which is using multiple providers and having inconsistent care.”
Underpinning that consistency: National HME’s Hospice Cloud Pro, which streamlines operations, ensures compliance with hospice benefits and improves patient experience, Waldman says.
“The platform allows an administrator or clinician to make changes to an order on any mobile device,” he said. “They are then able to see real-time updates as to the timing with our delivery or potential pickup upon discharge of a patient.”
With that national footprint and tech-forward approach, a National HME location can access a particular piece of equipment from a nearby location or have it shipped from the company’s 40,000-square-foot distribution center in Dallas-Ft. Worth within 24 hours, Waldman says.
From paperwork to pain points
Beyond logistics, National HME is equipped to help partners like Elara Caring navigate broader industry challenges, including staffing constraints, cost pressures and administrative burdens, Waldman says.
“Knowing that they have a DME provider that can grow with them and be able to provide consistent service regardless of location, that’s a real differentiator,” he said.
