Option Care expands payer programs, bolsters tech to drive growth

John rademacherBANNOCKBURN, Ill. – Option Care Health is looking to deepen its payer partnerships as stakeholders across the health care spectrum look for opportunities to “right size care,” said CEO John Rademacher.

Partnering with traditional and non-traditional payers

Over the past year, Option Care has added five new programs with regional health plans and two additional programs with non-traditional payers that are already gaining traction, Rademacher said.

“There are conveners in the marketplace that are either trying to create a better solution for payers themselves and/or direct to employers,” said Rademacher on a recent call to discuss the company’s fourth quarter and full-year 2025 earnings. “So those are the nontraditional partners that we're working with that allow us to expand our reach into the marketplace, but also be a partner across the payer community at the national, regional and the convener level.”

Building a better tech stack

Option Care in 2025 also sought to boost growth with investments in talent and technology, said Rademacher. It continues to deploy artificial intelligence (AI) and automate key patient administration functions like invoice processing and cash posting.

“Today, approximately 40% of our claims are processed without human intervention,” he said. “We believe these initiatives will help us to grow without significant incremental labor within these functions, while improving the quality and productivity of our team members.”

Mining the pipeline for growth potential

The pipeline for infusible and injectable drugs continues to be strong, creating further opportunity for Option Care to expand its formulary, said Rademacher.

“We're encouraged by the engagement with pharma manufacturers and innovators, who are seeking partners with our capabilities,” he said. “Our comprehensive clinical competencies, including one of the nation's largest networks of infusion nurses as well as broad market access, national scale and local pharmacy resources positions us as a partner of choice to help new-to-market products reach their targeted patient cohorts.”
