Permobil Americas President Todd Walling prioritizes expansion of online store

Todd WallingLEBANON, Tenn. – Todd Walling, newly appointed president of Permobil Americas, has set a clear priority for his leadership: expanding the Permobil Store, the company’s web-based platform that enables provider customers to configure, quote and order products.

Permobil introduced the store in late 2024 with two manual wheelchair models, the TiLite X and Z.

“We’re making further investments in our customers being able to go to one place with one account number and order products and parts – a seamless experience,” Walling said. “Right now, we have our manual wheelchairs in there and soon we’ll have power wheelchairs and parts, as well as seating and positioning. We want to swing that through in 2026 to make the experience of working with us easier and faster.”

Walling, formerly senior vice president of sales, succeeds Chuck Witkowski, who was promoted to CEO earlier this year

A career built at Permobil

Walling began his journey at Permobil in 2007 in a sales support role. He advanced to regional sales manager in 2012 and senior vice president of sales in 2014. Over nearly two decades, he has contributed to key account management, pricing strategy and the development of business intelligence tools.

In the past six years, Walling has also been part of Permobil’s Americas Executive Leadership Team, collaborating across departments, including marketing, operations, supply chain and finance.

“My new role is focused on carrying our strategy throughout the entire organization, not just the sales and commercial side of the business,” he said.

Scaling with strategic acquisitions

Permobil Americas has grown significantly through acquisitions, most recently acquiring PDG Mobility in 2023. The Permobil Store plays a central role in integrating products from these acquisitions and streamlining customer access.

“We’ve gone from a small big company to a big small company and with that, improvements needed to be made,” Walling said.

The store also positions Permobil for future acquisitions.

“We’ll never stop looking at great additions to the Permobil portfolio,” he said. “We do see some white spots and areas in and around spaces that make sense. It won’t be as rapid of a pace as the past 10 years, but we believe there’s always a possibility of bolt-on acquisitions.”

Driving innovation to deliver value

With its customers facing ongoing reimbursement challenges, Permobil is increasing its investment in research and development to accelerate innovation and enhance value.

“We want to bring out more products quicker – not just every few years,” Walling said. “We want to improve on products and bring new solutions to market sooner.”
