Washington state passes CRT exemption

OLYMPIA, Wash. – The Washington State Senate has passed S.B. 5218, a bill to create a sales and use tax exemption for complex rehab technology, 96-0. The bill previously passed the Washington State House 48-0. HME providers and advocates testified in favor of the bill at a Feb. 7 Senate Ways & Means Committee hearing. Pacific Association of Medical Equipment Services (PAMES) Executive Director Barb Stockert, who coordinated the multi-holder advocacy effort, also credited the leadership efforts of state Sens. Mike Padden, Mark Mullet and Christine Rolfes as critical to garnering support for the bill. The CRT sales tax exemption would take effect on Aug. 1, 2023.  The bill has been sent to Gov. Jay Inslee for his approval.
