A major newspaper published a story in its business section yesterday about the competitive bidding rule going into effect April 18. A reporter from the Cleveland Plain Dealer interviewed John Reed from Pro2 Respiratory Services, Cara Bachenheimer from Invacare and Karen Talbott from Visiting Nurse Service and Equipment and Supplies. Talbott made a good point: She said competitive biddiing could make her job more difficult by requiring her to work with multiple providers for different products. The story, which called competitive bidding "return of the killer cost-savings," also mentions the "Dear Colleague" letter written by Rep. Betty Sutton, D-Ohio, and signed by 78 representatives.
