Diversification: Make yourself indispensable

Diversification: Make yourself indispensable

Gabe BucknerQ. How can DME providers build trust and transparency with hospice and other B2B partners?

A. Trust and transparency are essential for long-term success in B2B relationships with hospices, PACE programs and long-term care facilities. DME providers can strengthen these relationships by improving communication, streamlining workflows and offering visibility into service delivery and billing.

One of the most effective tools is a care coordination portal that enables referring organizations to view order status, approve high-cost items and access invoices in real-time. These portals reduce confusion, eliminate back-and-forth inquiries and give partners confidence in the provider’s responsiveness and accuracy.

When portals are built for interoperability – connecting seamlessly with both the DME provider’s system and the referring entity’s EMR – they enable faster approvals, minimize errors and reduce duplicate data entry. This not only improves operational efficiency but also enhances the partner’s experience.

Transparency in billing is equally important. Easy-to-read invoices and early access to monthly statements help facilities manage budgets and avoid surprises. By proactively sharing this information, providers demonstrate accountability and reliability.

Timely, accurate delivery also builds trust. When intake, clinical and delivery staff have real-time access to orders and updates, they can fulfill requests quickly and correctly, reinforcing the DME provider’s commitment to patient care.

Ultimately, trust is earned through consistent performance, clear communication and shared visibility. By investing in technology that supports transparency and coordination, DME providers can deepen relationships with B2B clients and position themselves as indispensable partners in care.
