NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – Acelleron’s educational resources for new parents are a differentiator for the provider and a big reason it was recently named “Maternal Support Company of the Year” as part of the 2025 Baby Innovation Awards.
Acelleron offers a wide range of breast pumps and supplies, as well as maternity offerings like compression socks and back braces, but it’s the company’s robust suite of free educational services and resources designed to support families from pregnancy to parenting to return to work that set it apart, says Brittany Regan, education & support programs manager.
“I said, ‘What if we did something to help people that got their pump unbox it?’” said Regan, who drew on her experience both as an educator and new mom to develop the program. “COVID was happening. My son was born in June 2020, and families were not able to go out (and) not going to support groups. I loved the idea (of creating this). If (families) never need to use the pump, that's fine, but if they do need to use it, we want them to feel comfortable in how to use it, when to use it (and) the basics of caring for and cleaning it.”
Those services and resources include:
- A pump exploration webinar
- A detailed Breast Pump Selection Guide
- One-on-one lactation and pumping support virtual consults
- Video how-tos; and
- A monthly pumping support group to connect with fellow pumping families
There are still many people that don’t realize breast pumps are a covered benefit, so Acelleron also strives to raise awareness through its marketing, which includes a strong online presence, easy-to-use website and partnerships with other related brands related, says Rebecca Peglow, senior manager of marketing.
“We’re always trying to figure out new ways to reach expecting families,” she said. “Our message is always, how can we make it as easy as possible for mom to maximize that benefit.”
Acelleron, which was founded in 2004, started providing breast pumps in 2013. That’s when Managing Director Jason Canzano joined the company as part of an ownership change – and when the Affordable Care Act (ACA), which mandated coverage for breast pumps, went into effect.
“We were primarily a pediatric nebulizer provider when I learned about the ACA opportunity and breast pumps, and I’ve kind of run with it ever since,” he said. “This award reflects the hard work we’re all doing, rolling in the same direction, from customer service to education to marketing. We all want to make a difference.”
