In brief: DASCO’s latest JV, Transfer Master’s brand refresh, Daybreak’s new hire from Apria

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – DASCO Home Medical Equipment has formed a joint venture (JV) with Mass General Brigham that it says is designed to simplify the discharge process and improve access to durable medical equipment (DME) for patients transitioning from hospital to home.

Through the JV, MGB-DASCO functions as an integrated DME provider within Mass General Brigham hospitals, combining DASCO’s operational expertise and supply capabilities with MGB’s clinical leadership and commitment to patient-centered care. Together, the company says, the teams have created a more reliable and coordinated system for delivering medical equipment directly to the homes of patients.

“This collaboration is about removing barriers for both patients and clinicians,” said Jason Seeley, president of DASCO Home Medical Equipment. “Our shared goal is to ensure every patient can safely transition home with the equipment they need, when they need it. The early results show meaningful improvements in discharge efficiency and patient satisfaction.”

Since launching at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital in August 2025, the MGB-DASCO model has already demonstrated faster delivery times, reduced discharge delays, and improved coordination between hospital teams and equipment providers, the company says.

The program will expand to additional MGB hospitals through 2026.

“This collaboration addresses key challenges in obtaining and coordinating home medical equipment, which often required navigating multiple vendors, follow-up calls, and delays that sometimes extended hospitals stays for patients who were otherwise ready to go home,” said Jennifer Vergados, complex care program manager, Mass General Brigham. “Now, our patients have more choice, building on our goals as a hospital system to provide the best quality, personalized care.”

Earlier this year, DASCO expanded its footprint to Massachusetts with a 3,400-square-foot office in Wilmington, according to Boston Real Estate Times.

WellSky powers providers to more easily engage with patients

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. - WellSky has launched WellSky Outreach, a scalable patient engagement platform enabled by QliqSOFT, that it says will help durable medical equipment (DME), home infusion and specialty pharmacy companies reach patients in a timely way. The platform automates outreach, assists with compliance and elevates patient satisfaction – with no software coding required, the company says. "Providers are under pressure to do more with less, and patient communication is one of the biggest bottlenecks,” said Steve Ward, PharmD, vice president and general manager at WellSky. “With WellSky Outreach, we’re expanding automation that improves the patient feedback loop – all while saving time and reducing costs.” Through a chatbot and messaging platform, the WellSky Outreach solution allows providers to deploy tailored campaigns for refill assessments, infection surveys and new patient onboarding. With two-way text and chat capabilities, care teams can minimize back-and-forth phone calls, saving time and meeting regulatory requirements, the company says. “Phone tag with patients is frustrating,” Ward said. “However, with the WellSky Outreach solution, clinicians can use a smart chatbot to automate common patient prompts. It feels just like texting for patients and is a game changer for practice efficiency.” Available now as a standalone solution, the WellSky Outreach platform includes a campaign builder with logic tree and form tools, agent licensing, and professional services for setup and customization. The solution is initially available to WellSky CareTend and CPR+ solution users, as well as organizations seeking infusion and specialty pharmacy software solutions to support payer and Utilization Review Accreditation Commission (URAC) compliance.

ATF Medical launches catastrophic care program, seeks to improve claims outcomes

NEWNAN, Ga. – ATF Medical, a provider of complex workers’ compensation care solutions, today announced the launch of Catastrophic Care Advantage. The company says the proactive offering is designed to dramatically improve outcomes for catastrophic workplace injury claims, while lowering costs for payers and employers. “The first days after a catastrophic injury set the tone for the entire recovery journey,” said Susan Nelson, CEO. “Our program puts proven strategies in place early, giving injured workers the best chance at independence, while helping payers and employers stabilize claim costs. It’s about transforming chaos into coordinated care.” ATF Medical says catastrophic claims represent just 1% of workers’ compensation cases but account for up to 20% of total claim costs, with individual claims often exceeding $1 million. The Catastrophic Care Advantage offering addresses this challenge by delivering early, preventative engagement that ensures injured workers have the right equipment, housing modifications and clinical support in place before discharge – preventing costly complications and hospital readmittance.
