Nationwide Medical positions for growth mode

CALABASAS, Calif. – Nationwide Medical has strengthened its leadership team and refreshedDavid Siegel its brand, as it positions for acquisitions and aims to “double or triple” its size in the coming years, says CEO David Siegel.

New executives will drive expansion

The company, which partnered with Heritage Group, a Nashville, Tenn.-based private equity firm in late 2024, recently added several key positions, including:

  • Dan Vasilj, formerly of Performance Home Medical, as president & COO;

  • Jay Hasler as chief commercial officer; and

  • Bob Abood as chief development officer in charge of mergers and acquisitions.

“We’re really excited about strengthening our bench in a way that will allow us to go out there and integrate companies that we are fortunate enough to partner with to bring us to the next level,” said Siegel. “We have traditionally been an organically-grown company but since partnering with Heritage Group we’ve really opened up our thoughts and ideas toward acquisition mode. We really hope to double or triple the size of our company, and we think there’s a lot of runway (to do that).”

Nationwide Medical currently has letters of intent to acquire several companies, with an eye toward expanding its geographical footprint and entering new verticals, Siegel said.

“We’ll want to leverage some of the abilities of a company we acquire (rather than) start from scratch ourselves,” he said.

True to core, but open to expanding

In business for nearly 25 years, Nationwide Medical specializes in sleep and respiratory care, along with continuous glucose monitors (CGMs), but “make no mistake, CPAP is far and away No. 1,” says Siegel.

“It’s only natural as we expand our talent here at Nationwide Medical that we’re also going to expand our product categories, but it’s good to stick with what you do well,” he said. “What makes Nationwide successful is the personal touch, the technology and the level of care that really focuses on compliance. We feel that’s a differentiator.”

Brand refresh highlights technology commitment

In November, Nationwide Medical launched a refreshed brand and redesigned website to better reflect its commitment to customers – and to technology, says Siegel. The new site features a clean modern look with updated and easier to find information and ordering.

“As an industry, we’ve entered this new world of technology and if you aren’t keeping up from that standpoint, you’re behind the curve,” he said. “I think it’s important to not only look technologically sound, but to be technologically sound and that’s where our focus is.”
