CHICAGO – Health Mobius and Adaptive Equipment & Caregiving Corner (AECorner) have joined forces to arm caregivers and consumers with the information they need to more easily purchase the best products for their needs online, says Kamal Haddad.
AECorner, co-founded by Cindy Hardin-Weiss, MSPT, CAPS, and Christina Hardin-Weiss, MS/SLP, CAPS, has made a name for itself with its in-depth video reviews and practical demos of adaptive equipment.
“If (a caregiver) is recommending a specific incontinence product or a specific walker and people are asking, ‘Well, how do I buy it,’ there has to be something simpler than doing a Google or Amazon search,” said Haddad, CEO of Health Mobius, an online wholesaler. “We teamed up with them so that they can take this consolidation of products that they've reviewed and other products that they have not reviewed but feel like it would be appropriate for patients and just made that transaction a little easier.”
Now, as part of the partnership with Health Mobius, AECorner has launched the AECorner Superstore to sell directly to consumers who would like to buy a product after viewing content.
“We get people that watch our videos and reach out to us and say, ‘I have to bring mom home from the hospital and I don't know what to get,’” said Cindy Hardin-Weiss. “A lot of times they'll just go out and buy a bunch of stuff that they don't necessarily need. So, we try to make that (easier), not just, here's the product, but the education part to go with it.”
Partnering with Health Mobius not only amplifies AECorner’s reach but also allows it to offer products developed by caregivers and other small businesses, says Hardin-Weiss.
“If people don't know about them, they're losing out,” she said. “So, it's really opened our eyes to being able to also work with small businesses and getting that in an organized platform that’s cost-effective.”
For home medical equipment and home health care providers who want an easily accessible resource to help educate their patients, Health Mobius has a licensing agreement with AECorner to use its content for providers who host their own stores on the Health Mobius marketplace, says Haddad.
“If you're interested in making sure that the patient (has options), we can execute on that and just make it easy for (the patient) to click on a button and find a place to buy,” he said. “For me, that patient is the be all, end all.”
