Numotion reports data security incident

PHOENIX - Numotion recently learned that certain employee email accounts were accessed without authorization on several occasions between Sept. 2, 2024, and Nov. 18, 2024, the company said in a Notice of Data Security Incident posted on its website.
The company stated: “Numotion has no reason to believe that anyone was trying to access personal information in the accounts, and there is no indication that any information has been used for fraud or identity theft. Nevertheless, out of an abundance of caution, Numotion undertook an extensive review of the emails that may have been accessed. On January 22, 2025, we determined that the emails at-issue contained some customers’ information.”
The type of information that may have been viewed varied for, but could have included names, dates of birth, product information, payment and financial account information, health insurance information, medical information, and for a minority of individuals social security numbers and driver’s license numbers, Numotion stated.
The company has sent letters to potentially involved individuals for whom it has a valid mailing address and has arranged for complimentary identity theft protection services for those individuals whose Social Security numbers were involved in the incident.
In a statement emailed to HME News the company said:
"At Numotion, we take data security seriously and prioritize ongoing efforts to minimize risks, employing industry-standard practices. Following this incident, we conducted a comprehensive review of our security policies and implemented several enhanced measures to further strengthen our defenses."
