Resource center will make sleep studies available to researchers

BETHESDA, Md. - Brigham and Women's Hospital and Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine will use a $7.7 million grant to create the National Sleep Research Resource, Sleep Review reported Oct. 20. The five-year grant from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) will allow the institutions to provide data from more than 50,000 studies to researchers. “The project represents efforts to use big data in powerful and cost effective ways, leveraging prior investments in research data collection, with a goal of enhancing clinical and translational work in human sleep medicine and physiology,” said Susan Redline, associate clinical director of Brigham and Women's Division of Sleep Medicine and the principal investigator on the NIH grant.
