COLUMBUS, Ohio – SpinLife, best known for online sales of mobility and accessibility products, is significantly accelerating its brick-and-mortar expansion with a new national franchise program designed to support the company’s omni-channel strategy.
The company, which is part of Numotion, launched the program in September and is offering two paths for growth: developing new territories and converting existing independent mobility equipment stores into SpinLife franchise locations.
“We were missing that last piece to help our customer base,” said Amber Dube, general manager of SpinLife and senior vice president of the retail division for Numotion. “As the senior population continues to grow, it makes a lot of sense for them to have access to expertise and to touch and feel products.”
From acquisitions to franchising
SpinLife began building its physical presence in 2021 with the acquisition of True Mobility. Earlier this year, it expanded that footprint through the acquisition of Triton Medical, which now serves as a model for future franchise locations.
After establishing a foundation through acquisitions, SpinLife determined franchising offered the fastest path to nationwide growth, Dube says.
“It’s the best way to get the message out,” she said, “and it’s the best way to create a system that franchisees can follow and upscale quickly.”
Leveraging e-commerce expertise
While franchising is not new to the mobility market, SpinLife’s franchise system incorporates the marketing and branding capabilities developed through its online business, including consumer data and insights into shopping behaviors that can help drive local growth, Dube says.
“That’s a huge advantage for our franchisees,” she said.
SpinLife is also leveraging its catalog business to help franchisees offer a broad product assortment while ensuring they stock “the best of the best,” Dube says.
A growth opportunity for providers
For independent providers who may be struggling, joining the SpinLife franchise network could provide a proven framework for expanding their businesses, Dube says.
“The whole idea of a franchise is, if you follow the model and you’re in the right territory, it should be successful,” she said.
