Sunrise Medical expands pediatric offerings with MfM acquisition

FRESNO, Calif. – Sunrise Medical has acquired Made for Movement (MfM), a specialist in neurorehabilitation therapeutic devices designed to restore and enable movement for individuals with complex mobility needs. The deal enhances Sunrise Medical’s pediatric offerings.

Founded in 1995 and headquartered in Norway, MfM’s flagship products — including the Innowalk, Innowalk Pro, and NF-Walker — support early and intensive therapy through motor-assisted standing and robotic gait training. These devices play a critical role in improving patient outcomes and enabling fuller participation in daily life, the company says.

While traditionally focused on pediatrics, MfM’s recent expansion into adult care further strengthens the overlap with Sunrise Medical’s user base.

"There is strong strategic alignment between Sunrise Medical and Made for Movement,” said Briger Tufte Johansen, CEO of MfM. “We share a common mission to improve lives through clinical excellence, innovative design and deep user understanding. This partnership builds on our strengths and broadens our ability to empower individuals with complex needs to move to improve quality of life."

With established operations in Germany, Norway, Sweden and the U.K., MfM’s geographic footprint aligns seamlessly with Sunrise Medical’s existing presence, the companies say.

Sunrise Medical’s global infrastructure, resources and distribution network will help accelerate MfM’s international growth, they say.

"We are delighted to welcome Made for Movement to the Sunrise Medical family,” said Thomas Babacan, president and CEO of Sunrise Medical. “Their unique and strongly positioned product portfolio, clinical focus, and presence in key European markets make them an ideal strategic fit. This acquisition extends our reach into the growing neurorehabilitation segment and allows us to address user needs more holistically. We also see exciting opportunities to accelerate Made for Movement’s growth globally by leveraging our international scale and commercial infrastructure."
