AAhomecare inks eCMN deal

February 23, 2004 ALEXANDRIA, Va. - AAHomecare has signed an agreement with Trac Medical Solutions and bConnected Software to provide a new solution for processing electronic certificates of medical necessity (eCMNs) and other electronic health care forms. The partnership, which AAHomecare announced Feb. 13, incorporates Trac Medical's existing e-CMN technology, CareCert, with enhanced capabilities and compatibility provided by bConnected. By streamlining the process and helping to eliminate errors, eCMNs promise to cut the costs of processing a CMN significantly. It was essential that the new solution for the industry provide a seamless upgrade for current CareCert users and one that is easily applied across the homecare spectrum, according to AAHomecare. “This eCMN solution provides a more cost-effective alternative to the current paper-intensive process of submitting healthcare claims,” said AAHomecare President & CEO Kay Cox. “This solution comes at a perfect time for our members who are faced with shrinking reimbursement from Medicare, Medicaid and other insurance companies.” AAHomecare selected Trac and bConnected because they have well developed technologies and ample experience in successfully providing business process management services to the homecare industry, Cox said. Earlier this year, AAHomecare published a white paper outlining the association's vision for a software solution for the industry and called for the solution to be created with open standards to ensure full industry participation. In addition, the AAHomecare white paper stated that it was essential the solution provide remote access through the Internet using a Web interface.
