AHP divestsnursing business

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. - American HomePatient sold its skilled nursing home health services business in Tallahassee, Fla., to Amedisys in April. Financial terms of the sale were not disclosed. AHP stated it will use net proceeds of the sale to pay down long-term debt. The company reported a net loss of $2.6 million for fiscal year 2006. Officials attributed the loss to a dip in revenues and an increase in expenses associated with changes involving inhalation-drug reimbursement. AHP has 249 centers in 34 states. It provides respiratory services, infusion therapy, parenteral and enteral nutrition, and medical equipment for home patients.
