Contract win exciting, bittersweet

MIAMI - No sooner did Carolina Ferreiro learn that she'd won the bid to provide mail order diabetes supplies in the Miami competitive bidding area (CBA) than her phone started ringing.
"All of these people have been calling me, wanting to be subcontractors," said Ferreiro, president of Pharma-Express.
Accepting the bid for mail order means switching her 400 patients from home delivery to mail order. The price reduction in the Miami CBA was a whopping 41%, but Ferreiro said she can supply product at that price.
While Ferrero is excited to have won, the news is bittersweet.
"People who have been in business longer than me didn't get in," she said. HME
