Doc's PWC scheme gets him 11 years

HOUSTON - Dr. Anant Mauskar has been sentenced to 11 years and three months in prison for his participation in a scheme to defraud Medicare and Medicaid, according to a June 20 release from the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ). Mauskar will pay restitution of more than $14 million, and he agreed to forfeit $644,449. The prison sentence was the result of a Nov. 17 conviction for conspiring to commit healthcare fraud and receiving kickbacks that cost Medicare and Medicaid more than $15 milliom from 2001 through 2003.
