Flood soaks provider in Nevada

RENO, Nev. - Recent flooding along the Truckee River in Reno, Nev., caused lots of damage to a provider here, according to local TV station KOLO. Accellence Home Medical's four warehouses and offices are located feet from the river. John Howitt says he'll spend about $100,000 out of his pocket to cover clean-up costs and damaged equipment at Accellence Home Medical. Howitt says he had no flood insurance. In addition to wheelchairs and other durable medical equipment, the company provides home oxygen to nearly 1,000 patients. The company's oxygen supply equipment was spared, thanks to a quick-thinking employee who alerted the owner to possible flooding, moving equipment to higher ground.
