FARGO, N.D. - Noridian, the Jurisdiction D DME MAC, issued several billing reminders for home infusion/nutrition services in April. For drugs administered by an external infusion pump, an advance beneficiary notice should be used when the drug does not meet coverage criteria. Drugs not administered by an external pump will be denied as non-covered. Other reminders include: Initial claims should include DME Information Forms (DIFs); calories over 2,000 or less than 750 per day require a medical explanation; GY modifier needed when drug or supplies are not covered under Medicare benefit - include an explanation.
