Mr. Prescription partners with HME

DAYTON, Ohio — Since 1979, Mr. Prescription Pharmacy has served as a Dayton area prescription drug provider. Now the Ohio chain plans to increase its market reach by adding home medical equipment to its shelves. In January, the pharmacy stocked each of its seven stores with a variety of HME, and in May, Mr. Prescription opened a new 6,000-square-foot HME showroom. President Tim Clark said most consumers of prescription drugs also use DME and that Mr. Prescription wants to keep that business rather than farm it out. “We're hoping to get 20% to 30% of our sales from HME,” he said. Each pharmacy now has its own HME department, carrying such products as bath safety aids, diabetic products, bed safety equipment, back and neck cushions, and respiratory therapy products. The new showroom will carry larger equipment, including custom and power wheelchairs, seat lift chairs, a diabetic shoe section, braces, ostomy supplies as well as a larger inventory of the equipment carried at each of the pharmacies. A handicap van will also be available at the showroom for daily rentals and house calls will be offered. HME
