Pfister leaves The Scooter Store

NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas - The Scooter Store's president, Mike Pfister, who shepherded the company through substantial changes to the power mobility benefit, will become CIO of Halliburton. Pfister has been president of The Scooter Store since 2003. "Largely because of Mike's leadership, The Scooter Store, as well as the industry, has survived these many changes and is poised for success in the future," said CEO and founder Doug Harrison in a statement. Pfister's departure comes several weeks after The Scooter Store, beleaguered by reimbursement cuts for PMDs, reduced its workforce by 200 employees (See HME News January 2007). Harrison continued: "One of Mike's biggest contributions was never letting us lose our compass--he kept our team focused on the fact that the Medicare beneficiary came first and foremost and that it was our responsibility as the largest supplier of mobility equipment in America to ensure that people living with disabilities continued to have access to a mobility benefit that would improve their quality of life." Pfister's new employer, Halliburton, provides products and services to oil and gas customers worldwide, ranging from manufacturing drill bits to performing pressure-pumping services. A subsidiary, KBR, provides construction and project management services.
