Pride Mobility makes first acquisition since 1989

EXETER, Pa. -- Pride Mobility Products is on the verge of acquiring scooter and lift manufacturer Silver Star Mobility. The acquisition, which is expected to close Sept. 1, will be Pride's first since the company picked up its scooter line in 1989. Medford, Ore.-based Silver Star will operate as the Silver Star Lift Division of Pride Mobility Products. Dennis Mortimore, the current owner of Silver Star, will continue at Silver Star and join Pride as vice president of vehicle lifts. "We are going to add Pride's strong sales, marketing, distribution and customer service to Silver Star's excellent products and knowledge of the lift business," Scott Meuser, Chairman and CEO of Pride, said in a release last week. "These advancements will benefit both Pride providers and existing Silver Star Providers." Pride has been working on integration of the Silver Star division for four months -- through the implementation of product upgrades, packaging changes, testing procedures and quality standards. Silver Star's products are on display at www.silverstarmobility.com or www.pridemobility.com. For more news on the acquisition, see the September issue of HME News this Friday.
