Rehab group adds muscle

LAGO VISTA, Texas - NRRTS named Valerie Nehl associate executive director in February. Nehl joins Simon Margolis, who became the organization's first-ever executive director in January. Nehl now manages NRRTS day-to-day, and she's "the master of putting the budget together," Margolis said. "She works the 5,000-foot view, and I work the 30,000-foot view," he said. "Her skill set complements mine very nicely--I'm valuable when it comes to fundraising, and she's valuable when it comes to making sure we don't spend too much money." Nehl has more than 15 years of experience in the finance and business administrative fields. Most recently, she was a regional director for Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa. "From a legislative perspective, she might be able to point us in the right direction," Margolis said. "She may have some residual contacts." Nehl also holds board and advisory positions with the American Red Cross and the John Deere Community Credit Union, respectively. A newcomer to the rehab industry, Nehl planned to attend the International Seating Symposium March 8-10 in Orlando to meet NRRT's board of directors, Margolis said. Collectively, Margolis and Nehl will replace NRRTS Administrator Judy Vance, who plans to retire in August.
