ATLANTA - Rep. Mike Ross, D-Ark., the only HME provider in Congress, will address Medtrade attendees on Thursday, Oct. 9 during the American Association for Homecare's annual Washington Update.

As a member of the Blue Dog and the New Democrat Coalitions, Cong. Ross has established the solvency of Medicare as one of his legislative goals.

A fifth-generation Arkansan, Cong. Ross was born in Texarkana, Ark. He and his wife own a family pharmacy and home medical equipment business in Prescott, Ark.

Ross was one of 215 representatives voting against HR 1, the House version of the Medicare Reform Act that contained a competitive bidding provision.

The Arkansas Democrat owns Holly’s Health Mart, an independent pharmacy and HME store in Prescott, a town of about 3,000. Ross and his wife Holly, a registered pharmacist, bought the 92-year-old business in 1993. He is the only federal legislator to own a pharmacy and HME business.
