Retail roundup

4 Family oxygen & Medical equipment: The full-line provider in Jackson, Ohio, joined the retail bandwagon recently. The provider has always carried equipment like lift chairs and scooters, but it has never made selling them for cash a focus, said co-owner Keith Blankenship. "Because everything with Medicare is up in the air, it's kind of a goal of ours for 2008," he said. In March, Blankenship estimated Family Oxygen's retail sales were at 15% of overall business. By increasing in-store displays and advertising in a local newspaper, the provider hopes to boost that number significantly this summer. "We're starting to get more scooter inquiries," Blankenship said. "I think it's catching on." HME
