Sunrise opens Boston-based distribution center

January 17, 2005 BOSTON - Sunrise Medical announced last week the addition of a new distribution center located outside of Boston. The company said the new site will increase and expedite delivery coverage to customers on the East Coast. Sunrise also announced that during the next 12 to 18 months it will be deploying a new, expanded distribution center strategy across the United States to better serve its customers. The new centers will increase Sunrise's overnight delivery coverage in the United States from 30% of the country to more than 80% once the plan is fully implemented.  “By locating distribution centers close by to our largest customers, we can assist them in minimizing their on-hand inventory needs,” Allen Traylor, vice president of North American manufacturing and distribution, said in a press release. The addition of these new distribution centers is part of an on-going corporate initiative to increase value and services for Sunrise customers, according to the press release. “The opening of [Northeast distribution center] signifies the start of several exciting initiatives that are squarely focused on bringing more value to our customers,” said Bob Von Kaenel, vice president of marketing North America.
