Telerehab project receives accolades

PITTSBURGH - A graduate student at the University of Pittsburgh received an award recently for his contributions to a project that involves using videoconferencing to conduct evaluations for power wheelchairs. Rich Schein presented a paper--"Telerehabilitation: Expanding Access to Wheelchair Provision and Service Delivery"--at the American Telemedicine Association's annual meeting. He won the ATA's 2007 Student Paper Award. UPitt launched the project in 2006 to better serve the needs of patients who live in rural areas, where ATPs are often scarce (See HME News, March 2007).
