Update: N.J. Gov. signs scooter bill

TRENTON, N.J. - Gov. Jon Corzine signed a bill Jan. 26 that allows disabled people to ride power scooters on public roads, an activity that has been banned since July 2005. Per the new law, which takes effect May 1, holders of handicapped-person identification cards must obtain a sticker from the state Motor Vehicle Commission that indicates they're allowed to operate a power scooter on public roads with speed limits of 25 mph or less.
