An uplifting contribution

The Salt Lake City-based Alpine Medical recently donated a lift chair and bath safety equipment to a local Utah family with special needs. Owner Jay Broadbent got involved when he caught a TV news item about the Smeltzers, recipients of a Utah Home Make-Over organized by a local group. David Smeltzer and one of his daughters suffer from a rare, debilitating disease and David's reclining chair, where he has slept for the past 12 years, was worn to the frame. The donated HME, valued at $1,500, was installed by construction crews in the brand-new home, which was completed in 14 days. "One of our goals is to be a good member of the community," said Broadbent.
