HARTFORD, Conn. - CareCentrix has an increasing stronghold on Florida.
The company, which manages home nursing, infusion and medical equipment services, announced this week that it's now a preferred provider for Aetna's 1.2 million members in Florida. It's already an exclusive provider for Blue Cross Blue Shield's 4 million members in the state.
In its new relationship with Aetna, CareCentrix will work directly with the insurer's providers in Florida to coordinate home health care and other needs.
CareCentrix will also offer Aetna members access to its Successful Transition And Recovery in the home program (HomeStar), which assists members with transitioning from hospital care to home care through nursing support, telephonic coaching and telemonitoring. The goal: Reducing the number of members being readmitted to the hospital--a number that recent studies estimate to be as high as one in five nationally.
"Our HomeStar program, coupled with our home health care expertise, is reducing hospital readmissions and enabling people to successfully recover at home," stated Dr. William Kerr, chief medical officer, CareCentrix, in a release. "We believe home health care can play a leading role in helping Aetna's members achieve better health outcomes at an improved cost."
CareCentrix is also an exclusive provider for Blue Cross Blue Shield's 32,000 Medicare Advantage members in Tennessee.
