Home Care Delivered ready for ‘bigger, better, faster’

Gordy FoxRICHMOND, Va. – Home Care Delivered’s recent acquisition of Medline’s DMEPOS supplier business unit will boost the provider’s geographic and payer profile, says CEO Gordy Fox.

The two companies already had a long-running relationship, so when Medline approached HCD about buying the business unit, it made sense, says Fox.

“Medline’s DMEPOS supplier business unit really focuses on incontinence, urological, ostomy and wound care, so it was directly in alignment with what we do,” he said. “We are experts in those categories and there wasn’t a lot of overlap geographically or payer-wise.”

The deal is HCD’s third since it received a majority equity investment from BPOC, a Chicago-based private equity firm focused exclusively on the health care industry, in 2021.

While HCD already had contracts with payers around the country, it has been primarily focused east of the Mississippi, says Fox.

“We’re going to be servicing thousands of new patients and dramatically increase our ability to serve them,” he said.

HCD has already begun the process of integrating Medline’s supplier business and is working closely with the company to ensure the process goes smoothly with no interruption in service to patients. The two companies are also working together to talk with payers and other stakeholders about the change, says Fox.

“HCD has a reputation for providing a great customer experience and a great relationship with our payers, and Medline has got a great reputation for their products and really good relationships with their payers,” he said.

Fox, who founded HCD in 1996, says, at the end of the day, the company is a “purpose-driven organization” that wants to continue to grow to serve more people.

“The need for quality care at home is huge,” he said. “Everybody wants to stay at home. HCD is not the end all solution – we need the whole continuum of care – but we’re going to stay on the same path we’ve been on and do it bigger, better, faster.”
