RICHMOND, British Columbia – HME Medical Distribution’s new partnership with Yuwell marks more than an expansion into CPAP and respiratory products—it’s part of a broader strategy to evolve from a regional DME provider into a national medical equipment distributor.
“It’s a process that takes years and years, as we continue that transformation – whether that’s adding new products and new services, expanding our physical warehouse locations,” he said. “While we’re on the road, we’re still very much transitioning into that kind of new and exciting broader definition of who we are.”
HME Medical announced in March that it entered into a national distribution agreement with Yuwell, allowing the company to supply the manufacturer’s respiratory and medical product portfolio to dealers across Canada.
The move also addresses a geographic gap in the market. Much of Canada’s CPAP distribution is concentrated in Ontario or the U.S. East Coast, often resulting in extended shipping times for Western Canada, Boscacci says.
With existing warehouses in Surrey and Richmond nearing 95% capacity, HME Medical’s upcoming Maple Ridge facility – expected to open in fall 2026 – will expand capacity in British Columbia, as it builds out that West Coast hub.
For dealers in British Columbia, HME Medical can already offer a two-business-day delivery guarantee, while broader shipping times have improved through localized inventory and proximity to Pacific shipping routes.
“When you speak to CPAP dealers across Canada, one of the big messages that’s come across is they want the product to ship faster, more efficient, and they want the ability to order online and receive product in a matter of three, four, five days – not two, three, four weeks,” he said.
To support faster fulfillment and streamline ordering, HME Medical has also launched an online dealer portal that allows customers to view real-time inventory and pricing, place and repeat orders, access billing information and communicate with the company’s e-contact team via live chat. Boscacci says the platform reflects growing expectations for visibility and efficiency.
“It’s a really cool system because it allows you to eliminate fax machines, paper purchase orders, eliminate phone calls and inquiries,” he said. “It has your shipping time, it has your courier, it has your arrival time.”
Looking ahead, HME Medical plans to continue expanding its distribution footprint as it targets annual growth of 18% to 25%.
“This company is built on growth,” he said. “To maintain that growth, we need more and more space and we need more and more market access points.”
