New Braunfels vs. The Scooter Store

NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas - It's official: The city of New Braunfels, Texas, has sued The Scooter Store to reclaim more than $2.6 million in job-creation incentives that the city awarded to the company, according to an article from the San Antonio Express News. In the lawsuit, the New Braunfels Industrial Development Corp. accuses The Scooter Store of failing to maintain employment levels established in a 2009 economic incentive agreement. The lawsuit alleges the company then failed to pay back the money owed the city as part of a “claw-back” provision in the agreement. This is the second lawsuit filed against The Scooter Store in recent months: In March, a class action lawsuit was filed against The Scooter Store by Anna Urbina, a recently laid off employee who claims the company didn't give employees proper notice regarding their terminations.
