DMERCs issue power mobility transition article

BALTIMORE -- The DMERCs in June issued a transition article to help providers navigate the new national coverage criteria for power mobility without the aid of the revised CMN and new documentation requirements. The article provides an overview of the new NCD and a chart explaining how the current CMN for power wheelchairs, scooters and manual chairs should be completed under the new rules. Some questions on the existing CMN no longer apply because coverage is now based on a patient's ability to perform activities of daily living instead of whether they are bed or chair confined, according to the article.
