In brief: Lofta’s partnership, AdaptHealth’s upgrade, Ronda Buhrmester’s move

SAN DIEGO – Lofta, a provider of direct-to-consumer sleep apnea care, has partnered with Accomplish Health, a virtual obesity and metabolic health platform, to address the comorbidities between sleep apnea and obesity.

By addressing obesity alongside sleep apnea, the companies aim to improve patient outcomes, enhance adherence to therapy and support sustainable, long-term health improvements.

"Sleep apnea and obesity are deeply interconnected, yet they are too often treated in isolation," said Boyd Goodson, general manager at Lofta. "This alliance allows us to offer our patients a more comprehensive approach: one that addresses both sleep health and an important underlying driver of disease."

Eligible Lofta patients will have access to:

  • Regular virtual visits with obesity-trained physicians and advanced practice clinicians;
  • Anti-obesity medications approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), including GLP-1 therapies when clinically appropriate;
  • Nutrition coaching from expert registered dietitians; and
  • Remote monitoring tools, such as connected in-home scales, to track progress in real time.

"We're excited to work together with Lofta to extend high-quality obesity care to a population where it can make a meaningful difference," said Andrew Olanow, CEO of Accomplish Health. "By combining Lofta's leadership in sleep apnea care with Accomplish's specialized obesity expertise, we're helping patients address root causes, improve outcomes, and build healthier lives."

Resmed founder Peter Farrell recognized for achievements

WASHINGTON – The Horatio Alger Association of Distinguished Americans, Inc., a nonprofit that honors leaders who have overcome adversity and supports young people in furthering their education, has announced that Dr. Peter Craig Farrell, founder of Resmed, will receive the prestigious Horatio Alger Award and become a lifetime member of the organization. Farrell joins 10 other corporate, civic and cultural leaders from across the country in the 2026 class of honorees. "My career in health care and technology has been a journey defined by curiosity, persistence and a drive to solve real problems," said Farrell. "Receiving the Horatio Alger Award is a tremendous honor because it recognizes the same values that guide my work: facing challenges head-on, pursuing opportunities with purpose, and using knowledge and experience to help others. It is a privilege to join the Horatio Alger Association and the important mission of helping young people overcome life's challenges to pursue their dreams." Farrell founded Resmed in 1989. He also serves on several boards, including those of Arcturus Therapeutics and Wave Guide, where he is chairman; and serves as a trustee of Scripps Research Institute at the Jacobs Engineering School at the University of California, San Diego. Farrell says giving back to the community is both a responsibility and an investment in society. In 2001, he established the Farrell Family Foundation, which supports community initiatives, youth programs, health-related causes and education, with a focus on technology and underserved populations. "Peter Farrell exemplifies what the Horatio Alger Award stands for: a relentless pursuit of knowledge and innovation, and a commitment to improving the lives of those around us," said Don R. Daseke, founder & chairman emeritus of Daseke, Inc., a 2018 Horatio Alger Award recipient who nominated Farrell for the Award. "Peter's journey from humble beginnings to building a global health care enterprise inspires young people striving to change their circumstances and make an impact on the world. It is a privilege to recognize his achievements and welcome him to the Horatio Alger family, where I know his story will motivate the next generation of leaders for years to come." Farrell and the member class of 2026 will be formally inducted into the association during the 79th Horatio Alger Award Induction Ceremonies in Washington, D.C., in April.

AdaptHealth sees ratings upgrade by Moody’s

CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa. – AdaptHealth has announced that Moody’s Rating has recently upgraded its ratings, including the corporate family rating from Ba3 to Ba2 and the senior unsecured notes rating from B1 to Ba3. "Moody’s Ratings’ upgrade follows S&P Global Ratings’ upgrade of our issue-level rating on our senior unsecured debt in November 2025 and is yet another important recognition of the actions we are taking to strengthen our balance sheet, improve our risk profile and increase our financial flexibility," said Suzanne Foster, CEO of AdaptHealth. "This includes a meaningful reduction in the balance of our term loan A since the third quarter of 2024, funded by our strong free cash flow generation by proceeds from dispositions of non-core assets to sharpen our strategic focus. Debt reduction remains among our highest capital allocation priorities, as we believe a strong balance sheet is essential to unlocking and sustaining value for shareholders." In November, AdaptHealth announced that S&P Global Ratings recently upgraded the issue-level rating on the company’s senior unsecured debt to “BB-” from “B+” and revised its recovery rating to “4” from “5.” S&P highlighted that the upgrade follows $225 million of year-to-date prepayment of its senior secured term loan A due in 2029. This, S&P said, increases recovery prospects for AdaptHealth’s unsecured notes in the rating agency’s hypothetical default scenario.

ACHC releases white paper on impact of accreditation on care

CARY, N.C. – The Accreditation Commission for Health Care (ACHC) has released a new white paper detailing findings from a successful three-year, state-funded pilot program that evaluated the impact of accreditation on adult care homes and assisted living communities in North Carolina. The company says the pilot represents a comprehensive evaluation of accreditation in adult care settings and reinforces that its accreditation helps build safer, more consistent and more effective health care environments. “The pilot program’s findings meaningfully illustrate how accreditation strengthens communities and the health care providers that serve them,” said José Domingos, president & CEO of ACHC. “These results allow us to build national programs grounded in proven outcomes – not just compliance – so adult care homes and assisted living communities can deliver higher-quality, more consistent care.” The paper provides a detailed, visual overview of the Pilot Program’s methodology and findings in the following areas of patient care and operations, including:

  • Resident health care-related outcomes
  • Resident psychosocial outcomes
  • Person-centered care practices
  • Medication management
  • Workforce performance

Based on the program’s success, ACHC launched its Assisted Living (AL) Accreditation and Distinction in Assisted Living Outcomes nationally in December 2025.
