BRENTWOOD, Tenn. - Numotion says its LMN Navigator, a new documentation platform designed to streamline access to complex rehab technology (CRT) for patients, addresses longstanding documentation challenges and expands services beyond traditional wheelchair seating clinics and into broader health care settings.
LMN Navigator is engineered to reduce the administrative burden for clinicians who aren’t specialists in seating and mobility, such as home health therapists. These clinicians play a growing role in care coordination but don't have the expertise that physical therapists (PTs), occupational therapists (OTs) and assistive technology professionals (ATPs) have in CRT documentation.
“You have a reluctance to want to see people for seating and positioning because the documentation can be so daunting,” said John Pryles, chief commercial and operations officer. “It’s not for lack of expertise on the clinical piece but specifically lack of expertise and time when it comes to the documentation piece. And so, there is a huge population of individuals who have a CRT-like diagnosis but who don’t necessarily have access to what we’ve come to associate with CRT.”
The LMN Navigator platform incorporates several key features designed to improve workflow efficiency and compliance:
- Smart question/answer logic that displays only relevant fields
- Direct integration with Numotion’s data systems to prefill customer information
- Automated routing of documentation to order processing
- Proactive flagging of documentation conflicts or potential payer denials
“When you pull up a 15-page document, it’s natural to feel overwhelmed,” said Justin Peterfish, vice president of sales operations. “By collapsing irrelevant fields, you can condense that to seven pages.”
Numotion developed LMN Navigator using the Wheeled Mobility and Seating Evaluation (WMSE) as a foundational framework, then layered in intuitive design elements and technology to make the documentation easier for the user to complete themselves.
“For us, it’s a very clear and bright line that scribing is a non-starter,” Pryles said. “So, we looked at, how do we take a bit of what we know around compliance and doing things the right way and leverage technology to make it easier. I think the team knocked it out of the park.”
Numotion is currently rolling out LMN Navigator to its existing network of partners, with plans to expand outreach to home health organizations and other care providers. The company sees broad applicability across health care settings, citing the increasing ubiquity of digital tools and drawing a parallel to consumer-friendly platforms.
“TurboTax didn’t invent the 1040 but it made it accessible to people who weren’t accountants,” Pryles said.
