LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Nationwide Medical, a Calabasas, Calif.-based provider of CPAP, oxygen and CGM supplies and services, was named the 2026 HME Provider of the Year at the HME News Business Summit on Oct. 13. The award is part of the HME Excellence Awards, hosted by HME News and sponsored by ACU-Serve.
Nationwide Medical advanced through a two-stage application process, including initial and finalist rounds, where it detailed its financial performance, quality controls, technology adoption, payer relations, staffing strategies and community engagement
“This award is the epitome of a team award, and it truly belongs to all the amazing Nationwide Medical employees that go to work every day with a mindset to serve others,” said David Siegel, CEO of Nationwide Medical. “Thank you to the selection committee and HME News for this incredible honor. On behalf of Nationwide Medical, and our great private equity partners at Heritage Group, we are truly so grateful for this recognition.”
Founded as a family business focused on improving respiratory care, Nationwide Medical has grown over two decades into a respiratory specialist serving more than 100,000 patients annually, according to the company.
A culture of continuous improvement
Miriam Lieber, president of Lieber Consulting and a judge for HME Provider of the Year, said Nationwide Medical distinguished itself through a culture of continuous improvement, particularly its investment in automation and emerging technologies.
“Nationwide Medical continually examines its internal operations with ingenuity and clarity, embracing technology, including AI and other innovative solutions, with an eye toward the bottom line without ever compromising service,” she said. “It never loses sight of its top objective: serving the patient with the utmost care and compassion.”
Lieber also pointed to the company's investment in its workforce and its broader involvement in the home medical equipment (HME) industry. Siegel, for example, serves as vice chair of the AAHomecare board of directors.
“Nationwide collaborates with other companies while tirelessly, and proudly, raising its own bar,” she said.
Patient access and growth strategy
Jonathan Sadock, managing partner and CEO of Paragon Ventures and a judge for HME Provider of the Year, said Nationwide Medical has built a model that makes it easier for patients to access equipment and therapy services through a network of more than 1,000 respiratory therapists and a mix of in-home, virtual and hybrid care options.
Sadock also cited the PE-backed company's growth strategy, including its acquisition of Dynamic Healthcare Services, as evidence of its commitment to expanding both geographic reach and service capabilities.
“There is a lot to like about Nationwide Medical,” he said. “They truly are the example of excellence in HME that other providers should emulate.”
HME News has hosted the HME Excellence Awards since 2002.
