CQRC, industry stakeholders seek clarifications on vent policy

WASHINGTON, DC – The Council for Quality Respiratory Care (CQRC) joined stakeholder groups in sending a letter to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) urgently calling for clarifying guidance for the continuing use criteria for both home mechanical ventilators (HMV) and respiratory assist devices (RAD) used by Medicare beneficiaries with chronic respiratory conditions.

LAFAYETTE, La. – Viemed is forecasting “pretty aggressive” growth in its sleep business in the year ahead, driven by strong increases in new patient setups and a corresponding boost in its resupply business, say company execs.

WASHINGTON – CMS has released the long-awaited clarification on the national coverage determination (NCD) for noninvasive positive pressure ventilation (NIPPV) with an implementation date of Oct. 22, 2025. CMS in June released the final NCD. The Change Request, issued Aug. 21, covers initial use and continued coverage criteria for respiratory assist devices (RAD) and home mechanical ventilators (HMV).
