Work hard, play hard

October 21, 2015Liz Beaulieu, Editor

The last time I saw Van Miller was at the AAHomecare Washington Legislative Conference in May. It was the first day of the event and things didn't really get started until noon, but there was Miller in the lobby with CFO Mike Mallaro doing what he did best, working the crowd, shaking hands and patting backs, and even offering this reporter and another attendee water. It turned out that, although the official legislative visits didn't start until the next day, Miller and the rest of the crew from...

HME by the numbers

November 3, 2014Guest Commentary

Overall health are spending continues to grow at close to 6% per year projected for the next 10 years, with HME/DME expenditures (all types) expected to double in the same time period.Even with the “let's have a death spiral of bids for HME to stop fraud” nonsense, combined with the “audit 'til they go away” attack, overall expenditures for home care continue...

Audits put providers out of business

July 18, 2014HME News Staff

Editor's note: The following is a letter to the editor from Van Miller that appeared in the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier in July. Bob Black's June 25 letter to the editor expressed an opinion without apparently knowing much...
