In brief: McKesson breach, Daybreak-Parachute partnership, Resmed sponsorship

IRVING, Texas – McKesson discovered a cybersecurity incident on Aug. 25 affecting its information systems, the company disclosed in a Form 8-K filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

Based on its investigation thus far, including assessments by leading cybersecurity industry experts, McKesson has confirmed that the unauthorized access to certain third-party applications and the exfiltration of certain data was associated with a subset of customers within its Oncology & Multispecialty and Medical-Surgical business units, according to an Aug. 29 update on its website.

“We have reasonable assurance of no ongoing unauthorized activity in our systems,” the company stated. “Customers can continue to connect to and use our systems and services as intended. We continue to monitor our environment closely and take measures to support the security and reliability of our operations.”

McKesson provided the following next steps:

  • The company’s investigation remains ongoing and it continues to fully ascertain the scope of information that may have been accessed or acquired.
  • The company will continue to provide updates as additional information becomes available. Any updates about the nature and scope of this incident will come from McKesson and be posted on McKesson.com/cybersecurity.
  • The company also expects to provide complimentary credit monitoring and identity protection services, as well as a dedicated information line to answer questions and provide support to partners, customers and their patients whose data was exfiltrated.

“We take the security and privacy of our partners, customers and their patients very seriously,” the company stated. “We appreciate your patience and partnership as our investigation continues.”

The ShinyHunters extortion group told BleepingComputer that it was behind the attack, claiming it gained access after conducting voice phishing – or vishing – social engineering attacks against multiple McKesson employees. The group reportedly demanded a $55.2 million ransom.

Daybreak joins Parachute Health, increasing access to therapy

LOS ANGELES – Daybreak has joined Parachute Health, creating a digital pathway that connects more than 300,000 clinicians and prescribers, 3,000 home medical equipment (HME) provider locations and 70,000 facilities and health systems nationwide using Parachute Health’s e-prescribing platform to Daybreak’s oral appliance therapy. "Obstructive sleep apnea remains widely underdiagnosed and undertreated in the United States, in part because the path from testing to treatment has historically been fragmented across multiple systems and providers," said Wesley Lones, founder and CEO of Daybreak. "By joining Parachute Health, it continues our broader mission to increase access to care, shorten time to treatment, and simplify a therapy pathway that has long been disjointed for both patients and the providers who treat them." For clinicians and prescribers using Parachute Health, they can now refer patients directly to Daybreak within the same e-prescribing workflow they already use for other HME orders. For HME providers, they can now use their established pathways within Parachute Health’s platform to request and receive prescriptions and clinical documentation to support patient therapies. Daybreak and Parachute Health say this shortens the time it takes to generate a valid, signed prescription, reducing the administrative burden that has historically slowed the path from sleep apnea diagnosis to treatment. “Parachute strives to decrease the friction between prescribers, HME providers and patients through our digital workflows,” said Rob Boeye, executive vice president, commercial leader, HME, at Parachute Health. “We are pleased to make Daybreak available to prescribers utilizing our platform.”

Resmed signs NASCAR racer in new collab to raise awareness of sleep apnea

SAN DIEGO – Resmed has a new collaboration with 23XI Racing and its NASCAR Cup Series driver Tyler Reddick to encourage more people to recognize the signs of sleep apnea and seek diagnosis and treatment. After being diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and starting continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) therapy in early 2026, Reddick went on to become the first driver in NASCAR Cup Series history to open a season with three consecutive victories, which included the Daytona 500. The company says his experience highlights the performance advantage that treating his sleep apnea can provide. “Looking back, I had sleep apnea symptoms for a long time, but I didn’t think it was something that could affect me,” said Reddick. “I noticed a difference after night one of using my Resmed CPAP therapy, and it completely changed the way I approach recovery, preparation and performance. I've realized that a competitive edge is built through the habits you commit to every day, and prioritizing my sleep health has become one of the most important. If sharing my experience helps someone else recognize the signs and take action, that's a win.” Throughout the remainder of the 2026 NASCAR season, Resmed and Reddick will share sleep health education through his personal journey with sleep apnea, encouraging more people to recognize the signs and understand the role sleep plays in recovery and performance. Resmed branding will also be present on track with 23XI on Reddick’s No. 45 Toyota Camry XSE at NASCAR Cup Series races at Bristol Motor Speedway on Sept. 19, Talladega Superspeedway on Oct. 25 and Homestead-Miami Speedway on Nov. 8.

Vivos Therapeutics, cardiovascular group partner to offer coordinated model for sleep therapy

LITTLETON, Colo. – Vivos Therapeutics, medical device and health care services company focused on developing and commercializing innovative diagnostic and treatment methods for patients suffering from obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and other health conditions, has executed definitive collaboration and operating agreements with South Palm Cardiovascular Associates (SPCVA) to support establishing and operating a regional Sleep & Airway Medicine Center (SAMC) in Palm Beach County, Fla. The agreements build on the collaboration announced on June 10, 2026, and provide the framework for the formation, capitalization, governance and operation of AIM Florida, a physician-aligned management services organization, including management services arrangements with affiliated clinical entities. Vivos expects to hold a 75% majority of the membership and economic interests in AIM Florida, subject to applicable regulatory requirements and the terms of the definitive agreements. "The execution of these definitive agreements is an important milestone in our strategy to partner directly with larger medical specialty groups and support their patients' sleep and airway needs,” said R. Kirk Huntsman, chairman and CEO of Vivos Therapeutics. “By combining SPCVA's trusted physician relationships with Vivos' technology and operating experience, we believe AIM Florida can expand access to comprehensive OSA care while creating a scalable and capital-efficient model for growth. Our SAMC model has been developed through our work in Colorado, Michigan and Nevada, and we believe the same operating framework can be successfully replicated in other markets. We continue to evaluate similar opportunities with medical groups in other U.S. markets." The operating plan calls for an initial fully staffed Sleep Optimization Team capable of serving approximately 250 patients per month. Based on its operating experience in Las Vegas and current assumptions, Vivos believes the initial team, once fully deployed, can generate up to $6 million in annual revenue with contribution margins of 30% or more.
